In 2015, Eric and Robyn took over 501 Volley (formerly Fatchmo Volley) with the mission of taking junior volleyball to the next level in Central Arkansas. They knew that an integral part of acheiving that mission would be to have a volleyball only facility. In 2019, just after welcoming their third child, that piece of their mission came to fruition. In September of 2019, a 25,000 square foot building in a bustling area of North Little Rock was aquired to become the home of 501 Volley. This building was orginally built as an indoor soccer arena, and had more recently been serving as a daycare facility that was part of a large network of developmental daycares. The transition from daycare to indoor volleyball gym, was quite the transformation! (you can see before, during, and after pictures in the gallery at the bottom of this webpage).
Our facility is home to 4 volleyball Teraflex volleyball courts. When determining what flooring would best serve the athletes at 501 Volley, our number one goal was injury prevention. Teraflex has been shown to provide the most shock absorption of flooring surfaces available, providing 27-33% absorption and with a solid surface finish. Taraflex has served as the Olympic Court flooring for the last 10 Olympics! Its also used by many colleges including Nebraska, Marquette, and Washington as well as on the championship courts at AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida. The first official practices at the 501 Volley facility were held on February 10, 2020. The 501 Volley Invitational was hosted in the facility shortly after at the end of February and beginning of March. All operations at the facility were then put on hold one month later on March 12, 2020 due the Coronavirus-19 Pandemic.
501 Volley was fortunate to resume some operations over the summer and into the fall, leading up to the indoor club season during the winter months. We are excited to provide the joy, work, and competitive outlet that volleyball is for so many during this unprecedented time, and we can not wait to get the indoor club season going.
This facility is so much more than just a gym. We have spaces dedicated to strength and conditioning, film review, as well as lounges for our coaches, teams, parents.
